Reflection Around the World

A few weeks ago, I received a delightful surprise tweet from Sidonie Smith telling me to watch her newest video. After watching the beautifully made video, I discovered she gave The Disney Den a shout out!! I was SO excited, and it made me so happy, I just HAVE to share the video with you guys!

This latest addition to her One Woman Disney Series is the song "Reflection" from the Disney movie, Mulan (my favorite princess!). However, she's not just singing this song, but she's singing this song in three different languages, and playing the viola! Sidonie also did her own makeup, which is absolutely stunning in this video.

I hope you enjoy, and be sure to watch the end! ;)

Also, for those of you who want to hear (or haven't already heard) the original Reflection from the movie, here it is!

Disney Tune Tuesday 16: Zero to Hero

Just like the Disney confession above, I absolutely adore the music in Hercules. I actually think the music in the movie doesn't get the attention it deserves. I've shared with you songs sung by Megara and Hercules, but now it's time to share one of the fun songs by the goddesses of music themselves, the Muses!

The other day I received a message on Facebook from an extremely talented singer about her one woman medley of this very song! Her name is Sidonie Smith, and her video is definitely worth watching!

You can check out the rest of Sidonie's Youtube videos here.

Disney Tune Tuesday: Avengers Assemble!

Last Friday I finally bought my favorite movie, The Avengers!! I actually watched it Friday, Saturday, and partially on Sunday. My brother hadn't seen the whole movie so Sunday when he was watching the final battle scene I heard the theme song from my room and immediately stopped what I was doing to go watch. This movie is just too perfect to ever pass up!

The theme song is also amazing. Sara listens to it all the time while she does homework. Definitely worth a listen! I also will include an amazing one-woman violin cover that you need to see!

Enjoy!

Disney Tune...Wednesday?

I apologize for the lack of Tune Tuesday yesterday! Instead of ignoring the fact that I blatantly spaced about the fact that it was Tuesday (I'm so off this week), I decided to still share with you the song that is ALWAYS in my head!!

I also wanted to share this with you because today after my classes were finished I was hanging out with my friends in the student lounge area, and I heard a familiar voice and song behind me. I looked over and noticed that two guys sitting in a chair a few feet away from me were watching Tangled! At first I was kind of surprised, it's not every day you see people at my college watching Disney movies like this one (though one time this one group started blasting Lion King music..which I was okay with).

Hearing any Tangled song is kind of a curse for me...simply because if I hear it, I'll get "I've Got a Dream" stuck in my head. Since it's always stuck in my head, I decided to share it with you! :)

Enjoy!

For a quick Disney College Program update: After a few weeks of searching and talking to new and amazing people on Facebook, my friend and I have found our roommates for the program! I'll explain more later about how the living/housing/roommate process goes :)

Disney Tune Tuesday 13: Go the Distance

I decided to pick a motivational song this week because Disney College Program acceptances began today! Unfortunately, I have not heard back yet, but my best friend got accepted!!! She will be officially a quick service food and beverage cast member in Disney World for the Spring semester :) Fingers crossed for my email to come soon bearing good news!!

Disney Tune Tuesday 12: Life Will Begin

Last night at 6:15 I had my phone interview for the Disney College Program! I think it went very well. I will be creating a video blog either today or tomorrow explaining most of the questions that she asked me and answering questions anyone might have about the interview. I know the phone interview is the most nerve-wracking part of the application for the majority of applicants, so any way I can help you feel better about the process I'm willing to help!

Meanwhile, today is Tuesday! Which means, Disney song day!

This is a song that I've been listening to many times lately, and I know a lot of people on the Disney College Program Spring 2013 Facebook group page have also! Waiting is a huge part of the application, which is probably why this song is so relatable at a time like this!

When Will My Life Begin?
From: Tangled

Disney Tune Tuesday 11: Be Prepared!

As I've stated before, The Lion King is my all time favorite Disney movie. What you probably didn't know is that my favorite Disney villain is Scar, and favorite Disney villain song is "Be Prepared." I find the hyenas hilarious in this song!

Hyena: "Yeah we'll be prepared! ...For what?"
Scar: "For the death of the king!"
Hyena: "Why, is he sick?"

Hahaha never fails to make me chuckle.  Enjoy!

Be Prepared

In other news...I recently was informed that the Disney College Program Spring 2012 application opens THIS THURSDAY!!! I'm so excited!!!

I'll keep everyone posted as events unfold! I'm also debating on doing video blogs about my application and my experience if I get accepted.

My question for you is, would you rather have a written experience (on here) or a video blog (which I will also post on here)?

Disney Tune Tuesday 10: Favorite Disney Romance

Happy Tuesday!!!

Tuesdays are actually my long days in class...so I'm quite exhausted. Either way I made sure to share with you this week's Disney tune!

I've been asked before, "What's your favorite Disney romance scene?" Well my friends, I present to you, my favorite romance scene from a Disney movie.

"Can You Feel The Love Tonight"
From: The Lion King

Disney Tune Tuesday 9: I'm Almost There!

This week I started my last semester at my community college. Whenever I would receive the schedules from my teachers, I would realize just how close the Disney College Program application is to be available for Spring 2013. Last year it opened around Labor Day, so if it opens around the same time this year that means only two more weeks for me!

This week's song for Tune Tuesday helps remind me that all of this hard work will hopefully pay off in the end, and I'm "almost there." ;)

Disney Tune Tuesday 8: My Wedding Song

This week I want to share another one of my favorites. I love this one so much, I am determined to make it my first dance song at my wedding!

So Close
By: Jon McLaughlin

I absolutely adore this song. I almost started crying when I heard it start playing near the end of the World of Color! I also love this movie. If you haven't seen Enchanted, I highly recommend it! It's so cute and fun to watch!

Disney Tune Tuesday 7: Pirates

This has to be one of my top three favorite movie theme songs. I've been trying to learn it on the piano for like a year now but it's pretty difficult, but still super fun! I remember watching this section during World of Color and I got chills it was so amazing.

Enjoy!

Disney Tune Tuesday 5: "Belle" Parody

For this week's Disney tune, I want to share with you a hilarious Youtube parody video I saw the other day on the song "Belle" from Beauty and the Beast called "Beauty and the Beat." Some of you may have seen it already, but even so it's definitely worth seeing again. It's just too funny!

Original Song

Beauty and the BEAT!

I don't know about you, but I found it clever haha. I personally like the parody girl's singing voice more than the original. My brother and I started cracking up when we saw Antoine randomly plopped in the video.

Disney Tune Tuesday 4: Mulan

Hello my friends and followers! It's Tuesday! Woo! I'm going camping for four days tomorrow, so I'm excited to finally get away from summer classes and just relax :)

This week for the lovely Tune Tuesday, I'll be sharing one of my favorites from Mulan, also one of my favorite Disney movies.

I'll Make a Man Out of You
Sung by: Donny Osmond

Chinese Version
By: Jackie Chan

Cover by Darren Chris

In case you didn't know, Darren Chris plays Blaine Anderson in Glee (a show I shall admit I love). The Chinese version is pretty cool too :)

I hope you enjoyed today's Disney tune! Do you have a favorite Disney song?

PS: Even though I'll be out of town, I already have posts scheduled for this week to be automatically posted on here and Tumblr while I'm away :)

Disney Tune Tuesday 3: Tarzan Tribute

I apologize for posting this much later in the day than usual. I've been super busy with summer classes as usual...working on a presentation for my music class..at least it's about John Williams! (Extremely popular movie theme composer. Think Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Harry Potter.)

In honor of a recent rumor about Phil Collins apparently "dying in a car accident" this morning (which ISN'T TRUE), I will be dedicating this Disney Tune Tuesday to his amazing songs from the Disney film Tarzan!

Tarzan: Strangers Like Me

You'll Be In My Heart

Son of Man

I absolutely adore this soundtrack. I remember listening to it in the car 24/7 when I was younger. Probably my favorite soundtrack for a Disney movie! (Next to Lion King, of course.)

Which is your favorite song from Tarzan or Disney soundtrack?

Disney Tune Tuesday 2: Lilo and Stitch

Hello and happy Tuesday! Today I'd like to share with you one of my favorite songs that I think goes under the radar from the movie Lilo and Stitch. The Hawaiian music is so much fun and different compared to other Disney movies. Definitely fun to listen to!

He Mele No Lilo

Fun Children's Polynesian Dance Performance!

I'm not going to post lyrics because they're in the first video :)

I hope you enjoy the song!

On a separate note, remember Brave is coming out this Friday!! Anyone going to go see it opening weekend? I'm going to try and go while I'm at my grandparents house!

Disney Tune Tuesday 1: Hercules

I've been meaning to post some of my favorite Disney songs, but I feel like having one blog with all of my favorites would be overwhelming! Instead, I am now starting a new series every Tuesday called "Disney Tune Tuesday!" I got the idea from JAYA, who has "Tuney Tuesday" every week. It's fun to see and listen to different songs each week that the author enjoys and wants to share!

Each week I will post one of my favorite Disney songs from Youtube, as well as the lyrics and possibly either an a capella cover or instrumental cover of the same song to give a little variation.

Today, I'd like to share with you the song that is ALWAYS in my head: "I Won't Say I'm In Love" from Hercules.

Original:

Cover by Rae Sterling:

Lyrics:

If there's a prize for rotten judgmentI guess, I've already won thatNo man is worth the aggravationThat's ancient history, been there, done that

Who do you think you're kiddin'?He's the earth and heaven to youTry to keep it hidden

Honey, we can see right through youGirl, you can't conceal itWe know how you feel andWho you're thinking of?

No chance, no wayI won't say it, no, noYou swoon, you sighWhy deny it? Uh, oh

It's too clicheI won't say I'm in love

I thought my heart had learned its lessonIt feels so good when you start outMy head is screaming, get a grip, girlUnless you're dying to cry your heart out, oh

You keep on denyingWho you are and how you're feeling?Baby, we're not buyingHon, we saw you hit the ceiling

Face it like a grown upWhen you gonna own upThat you got, got, got it bad

No chance, now wayI won't say it, no, noGive up, give inCheck the grin you're in love

This scene won't playI won't say I'm in loveYou're doin' flips read our lipsYou're in love

You're way off baseI won't say itGet off my caseI won't say it

Girl, don't be proudIt's okay, you're in loveAt least out loudI won't say I'm in love
The older I get...the more I can relate to this song. It kind of haunts me...always in my head. I can't remember a day where I haven't had the urge to sing it.
Do you have a Disney song like that?
